Ensure you have the following installed on your system:
Clone the repository:
apt install python3.10-venv
git clone https://github.com/duckmak14/netbox-mcp.git
cd netbox-mcp
Create and activate a virtual environment:
python -m venv venv
source venv/bin/activate # On Windows: venvScriptsactivate
Install dependencies:
pip install -r requirements.txt
Configure environment variables:
Create a .env
file in the project root with the following variables:
NETBOX_URL=your_netbox_url
NETBOX_TOKEN=your_api_token
Start the server:
python server.py
Access the application at http://localhost:8000

Build and run with Docker Compose:
**Note:** Starting from Docker Compose version 2.0, use the `docker compose` command. For older versions, use `docker-compose`.
# Build and start the container in detached mode
docker compose up -d
# View logs
docker compose logs -f
# Stop the container
docker compose down
